- About me
I’m a dedicated climber, with over 10 years experience and a love for all the various strands and facets that make our great sport, from bouldering up to V9, to sport climbing (7b onsight, 7c worked), adventurous trad (E5 onsight), winter climbing (VIII) and expeditions across the globe to high peaks (up to 7000m).
I started my career working for a number of major walls, instructing and route setting but I now predominantly work as a Mountaineering Instructor in the summer months. With the onset of winter I enter a reverse state of hibernation, where i return to my route setting glory days, drill in hand.
Being a freelancer I have a great deal of free time to climb outside and as such, my setting style has become more naturalistic over the years. I’m still adept at throwing in some funky weirdness into my setting and aspire to set routes with natural flowing movements, a variety of techniques but most of all routes that have a sense of fun, inventiveness and playfulness to them.
- Your Setting Experience
5 years of regular route setting experience whilst working at a number of climbing walls, most notably Awesome Walls Liverpool where I managed the route setting, the Beacon Climbing Centre in North Wales, Creation Climbing Wall in Birmingham and Wolf Mountain in Birmingham. I have also set freelance for a number of smaller walls, mobile climbing towers, traverse walls etc. I have also set for a number of informal competitions for universities, local comps, kids clubs etc.
