Setting for Youth and Youth Competitions – Big Rock Climbing Centre
February 10, 2017 @ 09:00 - 18:00£50.00
A full day workshop exploring the dark art of competition and commercial setting for children. The day will begin with setting for children generally and progress in to setting for comps which brings in the elements and changes of style needed as you move to more low percentage, technical climbing and the need to get a result. Additionally, the workshop will look at setting for age categories and sizes of children. There may be a squad training session that evening so you can see your creation in action – so plan on staying late if you are up for it.
The day will be presented by professional Route Setter Alex Fry who has been setting for over 16 years and sets all over the UK for National Junior and Senior Competitions.
Bring your drill and shoes (they will not be provided), as there will be lots of setting and climbing. There is a on-site cafe but lunch is not provided (sorry!).
Prerequisites: You MUST be an experienced route/boulder setter comfortable working on ladders and in a commercial setting environment – to get the most out of the workshop we recommend you be climbing a minimum of v5 / font 6c.
